Alison Laws completed her medical degree at McMaster University, general surgery residency at the University of Calgary, a breast surgical oncology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology at Harvard University. She currently works in Boston, Massachusetts as a breast surgical oncologist at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center. Her research interests include the surgical management of breast cancer and optimizing screening and prevention strategies for women at high risk for breast cancer. During her time in Calgary, her work focused on developing a provincial dataset of patients treated with breast-conserving surgery to evaluate the effect of different intra-operative margin assessment techniques on re-excision rates.
